During my five-year tenure as a trustee, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing the foundation transform educational dreams into reality by supporting Engineering scholarship programs. From championing first-generation engineering students to awarding Dean’s merit-based scholarships, these initiatives have made a profound impact on our students' academic success and personal growth.

Two things stand out for me about VCU Engineering. First, VCU Engineering has been pivotal in bringing businesses to Richmond. When considering Richmond as a location, businesses see VCU Engineering as an asset. Second, 37% of VCU students are first generation college students and 43% of students are Pell Grant eligible. When an undergraduate student achieves an engineering degree it can be the quickest way for a family to rise out of poverty. VCU Engineering benefits Richmond and the people of Richmond.
